Acceptable vibration levels for the various organs of the human body are specified based on the response of an undamped single-degree-of-freedom system subjected to harmonic vibration. The equations that define the vibrating system account for variations in the amplitudes of displacement, velocity, and acceleration as a function of the vibration frequency.
